What is the #CWDBeadsProject?

The #CWDBeadsProject is a community art teaching and visual storytelling project that seeks to engage and teach about the risks and potential impacts of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) to Indigenous communities. This project seeks to re-story CWD by encouraging beaders to learn about this disease, and its impacts on deer, moose, elk, and caribou, and share their perspectives using beadwork. Beaders are encouraged to use one of the four hoof print templates provided to create a beaded piece. The final piece should include responses to the six questions provided. This project will ask artists to reflect on their relationship to animals used as part of beadwork and what solutions and changes beaders would like to see around managing wildlife disease.
